Hello Prashil,

Do you remember the 2 germans, visiting your restaurant serveral times in december and enjoying very much your kitchen.(especially the naan)?

Now we find the time to send you some greetings and pictures. The indian spices we bought in Christchurch were taken away by australian customs, because of ingredients which are not
allowed in Australia.

Funny thing was, that we bought the same ones in an australian store and brought them home. Matthew already cooked some dishes and the taste is great. But indian food without naan is half the taste for me.
Now we are back at home for 4 weeks, having a lot of snow, coldness and also a lot of work. But our next stay in Christchurch, for december 2007 is already booked, and we will see us again. Have a good time.

The Raj Mahal invites you on a gastronomic tour of India; you can try tandoori from the Punjab, fish masala from Goa, or a vegetarian curry spiced according to your preference. The restaurant uses contemporary as well as traditional Indian methods, so there's no pork, no beef, and no fusion cooking. Of the dozens of Indian restaurants in Christchurch, this is the best for its quality, its sheer variety of dishes, and its uncluttered decor.

REVIEW FROM AUCKLAND

My partner and I are from Auckland, and we were on a visit to Christchurch on the weekend (1/2 September).  We decided on a meal at your restaurant on the Saturday night, and thought it was wonderful.  The restaurant was busy and cheerful, the service was outstanding and the meal was superb.

We both eat Indian meals quite regularly, and we can both say that this was one of the finest meals we have ever eaten. The Rogan Josh was outstanding, and my partner was equally excited with her chicken meal.

Congratulations to your chefs.  Well done.

Unfortuantely, we do not plan to visit Christchurch for another 18 months or so, but you can be assured that we will revisit you again.

Simply the best Indian cuisine in Christchurch. Friendly service and exceptional food make this the top curry house in the city - don't believe the hype of any others. The 'Raj special' chicken curry flavoured with green capsicum and rum is a real highlight - but everything we have tried on the (extensive, regionally based) menu is superb. Highly, highly recommended.

On their last night in New Zealand, my inlaws and us had dinner at Raj Mahal. They had been there before, about a week ago and really enjoyed the experience, service and food.
This has been the best dinner experience ever, really good service and when asked about the different dishes, we were given a clear and good description.
I really would like to recommend this Indian place.

Absolutly blown away and have recomended to everyone I know visiting Christchuch. Fantastic food , very reasonably priced and excellent service.
